Instead of using an older-generation 600 motor, Yamaha engineers used the latest R6 engine, retuning it for more midrange spunk. The 600cc powerplant also uses a new fuel injection technology style that was intended to give better low-midrange throttle response--but our test unit didn't perform as well as hoped.
