In order to work with the lighter pistons, the connecting rods were redesigned, with smaller diameter crankpin ends reducing friction and reciprocating weight. Crankshaft counterweights were also revamped slightly, but no weight was removed.

There are some major flaws in your report of the Superduke R. First off, neither the Superduke R nor the regular Superduke come with a slipper clutch stock. The article states 'The clutch slip apparently is set up fairly tight, as the KTM's engine still bleeds off a lot of speed when you let off the throttle in the lower gears'. Yeah I guess you're right. It's set up so stiff that it doesn't exist lol.

Next, the Superduke R has a 12.2:1 compression ratio and the Superduke has an 11.5:1. In your article you state 'The end result is a peak of 118.4 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, an astounding 16.3-horsepower increase over the standard Super Duke, without changing displacement, bore and stroke, or compression ratio-an impressive accomplishment by KTM engineers'. The main reason why you found a 16 horse increase is that the compression ratio was infact increased over the regular Superduke.

And Troy Siahaan: "Find some smooth and twisty piece of asphalt, and it comes alive. You'll first have to figure out whether to go foot-out or knee-down, but it has the potential to rip either way". Seriously? Foot out on this bike? Did you ride the bike other than around the block? Never saw anyone going around the track in the Superduke Battle w/ their foot out pffft...

Anybody thinking about this bike, all you need is the Akra slip-ons, KTM/Akra map loaded in the ECU (dealer can do this), remove the SAS, a new seat and a throttle cam and the bike is dialed.
