2009 BMW K1300S vs. Suzuki Hayabusa - Warp Speed Ahead

I can not believe the test on this. what real performance comparison was there no 0-06 no 0-100 no 0-186 no track comparison. Typical seat of the pants o-meter testing I own a K8 Hayabusa and find it to be the finest all around motorcycle I have ever ridden and that's with thirty years of riding performance motorcycles. I am tired of the take a poke at the king mentality. The writers of this artical know that the hayabusa will destroy the bmw in every performance aspect except for maybee braking. I recommend you think hard before buying the bmw because guys like me will be waiting to give you that Busa beating you will have earned. here are there own performane numbers from thier own test chart on the  Hayabusa ('08) 4/08 9.68 @ 148.3 2.57 2.75 n/a better than the bmw huh. Maybee a typo ?

I find the comparison tests of very high powered motorcycles to be quite trivial. Both bikes in this comparison are incredible machines and one certainly is not better than the other. At this level of performance it comes down to personal preference of the rider. Both bikes have the highest "bragging" rights so to speak when compared to just about any other bike on the planet. The performance maximum for just about any motorcycle built today far exceeds any street legal limit, so pushing these bikes to the max by most riders will cause them to lose their license or bike, or get injured or killed. Let's forget about emphasizing performance numbers and concentrate on articles about how to drive these incredible machines smoothly and safely.

Apples and Oranges was my point. The bmw is not comparable in my opinion the zx14 is. I was talking about the method of testing. You can not get around hard numbers in this kind of comparison. Performance is the lifes blood of hyper sports market, that's the point I am trying to make. I was not condoning Crazy Street Riding and I am an advocate of proper training.

I agree with tclause that the method of testing for articles such as these are suspect. You can take any set of parameters on any two or more bikes that are "very close" so to speak, and easily make one bike look better than the other. The "hype" of the articles is what helps to sell magazines. The comparison test articles need to be "taken with a grain of salt" and should be enjoyed for their entertainment value more than anything.
It's great when the comparison articles such as this one do generate passion, because that is what motorcycling is all about.

Iam a BMW K1300S 2009 owner. And I also own two of the best sport bikes in the world. CBR 1000RR and Ducati 1098r. I believe there is more to the life of a motorcycle riding than going fast in a straight line.I purchase the BMW K1300S after a demo ride I very happy with the overall performance and handling,I now have 3500 mls on the bike, I have also have taken the bike to twice to the Arkansas mountains with great pleasure. The bike is the best for a person who wants to sport tour at fast pace. I highly recommend this bike.

Having owned a zx14 (06), an 05 k1200r and now a 09 Hayabusa I would have to rate the 14 first, the hayabusa 2nd and the bmw 3rd. (i also rented a k1200s in Vegas). The front end and quirky abs on the bmw are not good and the fuel injection on the bmw was horrible in traffic.

The 14 is the most stable and comfortable to me at 6-2, especially with bar risers installed. The busa a close 2nd. The brakes on the busa are easily brought up to speed with a steel line install.

Just look at the price for the bmw and remember you'll pay big for service as well, and heaven help a breakdown in anything other than a major city.

ok, no doubt the bmw will straight up rule the 1k litre bike division, but that is where you stop it. the 2nd gen busa r for real. remember this, there is no replacement for displacment. 1k cc's, cpmpared to 1340 cc's. you do the math. if you ride a busa like myself, you could care less about a curve, but on any straightaway, its the busa allday. ive got 205hp @ the wheels with just bolt ons. ill challenge any bmw 1krr on any straight anyday, h2tha3@gmail.com!

I owned both bikes and got rid of the BMW for the simple reasons that the areas the BMW beat the busa began to fade quickly soon as i began my upgrades (tires, exhaust, powercommander ect)that costs me a fraction the difference in the price between the two. The BMW comes tuned from the factory and the Busa comes de tunes and when i put the typical upgrades most bikers install (any serious ones) the Busa really came alive and the BMW really began to loose its performance appeal and edge for me as well as for all my friends and fellow club member that ride em back to back. Like "tclause" said poking at the King is a very misleading way to write or test these bikes. If you look at anything with that mind frame you will sell yourself short. Again the BMW stock was better in brakes no argument there but pads in front and a 2 or 4 piston kit in rear you get everything and more back.
Hope anyone reading this considering buying either one can look further than this article.
