Kawasaki has released information for two 2013 models, the ZX-10R and Ninja 650. The ZX-10R benefits from the addition of an electronic Öhlins steering damper; still an Öhlins twin-tube design and mounted in front of the fuel tank, the damper was developed in cooperation with Öhlins and is controlled by a dedicated ECU. The electronics vary the unit’s damping based on the rate of acceleration or deceleration as well as rear wheel speed. According to Kawasaki’s press information, the unit and its associated electronics add “almost no weight compared to last year’s steering damper.” The 2013 ZX-10R and the ZX-10R ABS will both be available in lime green and pearl flat white color schemes. Retail price has increased by $300; the standard ZX-10R lists for $14,299, while the ABS model costs $15,299.
