In order to create more aural excitement for the MotoGP spectators, most of the racebikes now have open exhausts with no silencers, as exhibited by the tailpipe of the Yamaha YZR-M1. However, some riders, like Rossi, have opted for silencers, saying the loud exhausts make it difficult for them to concentrate.
