 2008 Ducati 1098R R Model

2008 Ducati 1098R Connecting Rods And Valves
Connecting rods and valves on the R model are titanium, with the former shaving off 130 grams compared with the standard model. The reduction of reciprocating forces makes for an engine that is eager and willing to rev to the moon. Valves now receive a chrome nitride treatment and grow five percent to 44.3mm for the intake and 36.2mm on the exhaust side.
 2008 Ducati 1098R Pistons
The pistons of the 1098R are of the same design as the Desmosedici with a short skirt and double-ribbed undercrown, strengthening the piston while minimizing piston-wall-surface area.
 2008 Ducati 1098R Crankcase
The sand-casting process allows this crankcase to be stronger than the standard unit and ensures that the intricate shapes and bends are executed in complete accuracy.

 2008 Ducati 1098R Throttle Bodies
Huge elliptical throttle bodies on the R model now measure 63.9mm in equivalent diameter, with twin injectors for each cylinder-a first for Ducati. The primary four-hole injectors feed each cylinder fuel during normal use, the 12-hole secondary injectors coming to life once the revs start to climb-like at the track or in a race.
