Nelson Rigg
CL150 Expandable Sport Tail Pack
$119.95
Unless your bike has an extremely small and narrow tail section (CBR1000RR owners in particular), the CL150 Expandable Sport Tail Pack is just the right size to hold everything you need and not look out of place on the back of your bike. Constructed from heavy-duty ballistic nylon, the CL150 can be used solo, or in addition to many of the saddlebags in the Nelson Rigg family. True to its name, it’s expandable up to three inches, giving it close to 39 liters of carrying capacity—that’s enough to hold a full-face helmet. Two side pockets add extra capacity, and the reflective piping along the sides bring contrast to the black bag. Especially at night.
Ogio
Fender Bag
$49.99
Keeping with the less is more theme, the Ogio Fender bag (that’s tail bag in case you were wondering) is essentially the Mini Tanker tank bag redesigned to fit behind the rider. With 1.5 inches of expansion capability, capacity is the same at 14.75 liters and there’s even a map pocket on top, though it’d be hard to look at while riding. Four cinch straps wrap around the rear seat for attachment and a hidden rain hood protects from the elements.
Rapid Transit
Scout Tail Bag
$49.99
Another small bag for carrying just the essentials, the Scout attaches with both bungees and straps. With a modest capacity of almost six liters, it’d be hard to upset the balance of the motorcycle by overloading the tail bag. An integrated helmet holder is built in to the Scout and as an added bonus, the main storage area can be relocated to accommodate a passenger. So now riding with luggage doesn’t have to be a solo ordeal. Of course, they’d have to travel really light if they plan on putting anything in the Scout.
RKA
20 Liter STARR II Rear Seat Bag
$125.00
RKA calls its proprietary tail bag fastening system “The Pad.” Basically, it’s a square piece of anti-abrasive grip fabric it calls “Slip Not” with four hooks, two on either side. The Pad gets secured to the rear seat and there are corresponding hooks on the STAR II that align with The Pad. As for the bag itself, the STARR II is made from the same 600 Denier polyester with internal stiffeners as the Supersport tank bag, only now both compartments are deep. Close to six inches deep, in fact. There are no internal pockets in either of the STARR II’s compartments save from the mesh inner pocket and pen holder, so there’s still some to be desired when it comes to organization. Nevertheless, installation is a breeze and the simple design can hold more than enough for a long ride.
