Ventura
Aero-Delta VII $135.00
Ventura products are a versatile and functional piece of kit that can be interconnected with other bags in the Aero line to create as little or as much storage capacity as you want. The Aero line, like this Delta VII, can serve as either a tailbag or backpack. Unfortunately, to serve as a tailbag the separate Pack Rack is required and wasn't delivered to us in time. On the bright side, the bag still functions as a backpack; one that expands to nearly 35 liters. YKK zippers with pull tabs are functional and effective and are used throughout the pack. A secondary pocket adds to the convenience, while reflective piping makes others aware of your presence.
Dainese
Zaino Hard BackPack $209.00
While not exactly in the luggage game, this Zaino Hard backpack from Dainese deserves mention because of its built-in CE-approved back protector. It can be worn either with or without the backpack (which can also be worn separately) and provides an extra element of safety to the morning commute. The backpack itself is modest in its capacity; there are no dividers, though there are small compartments for things like pens, notepads or keys. A secondary pocket is also available. Shoulder and waist straps are lightly padded, though buckles are included to distribute weight evenly.
Firstgear
Laguna Aero Pack $119.95
There's a new trend in motorcycle backpack styling towards sleek, aerodynamic designs. Tested to over 150 mph, the Aero tapers from top to bottom and has a rounded top. This not only allows more room for a passenger, but also puts less pressure on the shoulders. Inside the bag, finding items is made easier by the light colored liner. A laptop compartment is built in, and the divider also holds pens, calculators and other small school supplies. Pockets are built in to the shoulder and waist straps (which are also fully adjustable) to place phones, wallets, keys or any other small item. The inboard panel has also been designed for maximum airflow to the rider's back, a feature which might prove convenient at 150 mph.
Icon
Squad II Backpack
$125.00
From the department of overkill comes the Squad II backpack from Icon. When it comes to adjustability, the Squad II has all the bases covered. While most backpacks have sternum straps, the vest-like chest closure covers a greater area—dispersing the load over more of the rider's body. What's more, upper arm straps add extra visibility. Storage space galore adorn the Squad II, with pockets for laptops, faceshields, cell phones, music players, tools and even first aid. Off the bike the backpack converts to a gear holder with its helmet storage compartment and tie-down straps to hold gloves and jacket. Fully loaded, the Squad II looks ready for a base jump, not a motorcycle ride.
Ogio
No Drag BackPack $149.99
Aerodynamic efficiency is the name of the game with the No Drag. And if you're wondering where the pockets are, access to the main compartment is via the back panel. Not only does that keep the zippers and pockets away from the flow of air, it also is an added security benefit from pickpockets, especially in a crowded area. Inside, the No Drag has 34 liters of capacity and a whole host of pockets and sleeves. The laptop sleeve is capable of holding up to a 15 inch computer, with pockets for everything from cell phones to tools. There's even a dedicated sleeve for a separate hydration pack (not included) and a helmet hood so you can take your helmet with you. Build quality is top notch with the thick padded straps easing the load on the shoulders. Sternum and waist straps help disperse the load and provide a more comfortable fit.
