Welcome again to the now-annual Sport Rider buyer's guide, where you'll find a complete listing of sportbikes offered in the U.S. for 2010. From Aprilia to Yamaha, we've presented each bike with basic specifications and a short blurb outlining the changes-if any-for the new model year. Unfortunately, several manufacturers were holding their new-model info close to their chest very late this year; we pried out what we could, but we'll post missing data on www.sportrider.com when it becomes available.
How to read the capsules
Models are presented in descending order of price within each manufacturer. We've combined some models where appropriate, such as many of Ducati's S models and the increasing number of bikes equipped with ABS. The MSRP for each model represents a base price; some paint options may add a premium, and the motorcycle shown may have options not reflected in the price. At the end of the guide is a listing of manufacturers' websites, where you can find more detailed information about options and pricing. The basic engine specification is decoded as follows: listed first is cooling type (L-C is liquid cooled, A-C is air cooled); next is total number of valves in the engine (16V, for example), then displacement in cubic centimeters, and finally the layout of the cylinders (Inline-four, V-twin, etc). Seat height and wheelbase are listed in inches. Just as we went to press, Harley-Davidson announced it was discontinuing the Buell lineup effective October of 2009. We've included that company's models as they will be available in dealerships for some time still. Check the last page for other discontinued models.
