It’s a brave new world for Yoshimura Suzuki as they head into 2010 without six-time AMA superbike champion Mat Mladin, and with the changing environment in the superbike class, it’s up to current riders Tommy Hayden and Blake Young to carry the flag. Mladin’s former crew chief (and now Yoshimura Suzuki team manager, as Don Sakakura is now managing the company’s burgeoning retail side) Peter Doyle discusses what it’s like without Mladin, the job of getting Hayden and Young on top of the box in the American Superbike class, and the difference in riding styles between the three riders (and how it affects the approach to their bike setup).
