Bridgestone BT 016 On The Track
The new tires showed excellent grip, stability and steering characteristics on the track, although the edge compound on the rear tire is a bit soft for all-out track use. The softer sides are of more benefit on the street, where they provide fantastic grip with little chance of overheating.

Bridgestone BT 016 Tread Patterns
New tread patterns are significantly sparser than those of the BT-014; the front tire has S-shaped grooves for stability, bump absorption and handling, while the rear tire's L-shaped grooves are for bump absorption and, according to the press material, rear-wheel steering.

Bridgestone BT 016 Front And Rear Tire
The front BT-016 tire has two compounds, while the rear has three. The edge compounds (yellow) are identical for both tires, while the center compound on the front tire (orange) is the same as the transition compound on the rear. The center of the rear tire has a third compound (red) that is another step harder for better wear properties.

BT016s are in my view a load of crap.
BT014s are much better.

For road riding all seasons, 02 R1.
Been on the 014s for a few years and they have only stepped out once (threatened a few other times) on a hard accelerate RH bend coming onto the M1 vs an audi R8 in winter.

Last autumn swapped to an 016 set.  Gently broke them in for 100 miles.  After prepared to enjoy.  One cold morning having ridden to the end of the road, damn wells slide (nicely straight line I'll give you) 10m.  Another day after a  lot of rain kin Spring braking down,m c20mph, police car pulls up in inside la, so I brake ahead of the bicycle box.  The extra degree of braking makes the bike slide another 10 m.  Great.

Country back lane, LH bend, just tootle along, queasy feeling in back, steps out and pulls me toward hedge. Tarmac wet, but not streamming.

Motorway, slight sharper bend, pulling a good rate, back begins to loose grip.  Have to slow to avoid the hedge experience repeating itself on metal barrier.

016s are ***
