DP Brakes, the developer of the original sintered brake pad, and industry leader in braking and clutch kit technology, has introduced a new street clutch kit that includes steels for high performance street bikes.
“DP Brakes and Clutches will be the only aftermarket manufacturer that will be offering friction, steel and springs for the complete line of sport bikes including Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and Ducati,” stated Larry Mills, President of DP Brakes and Clutches, North America. He added, “The new street clutch kit with steels will cover the complete range of common fitments.”

The DP high-performance street DPSK-F clutch kit includes both fiber and steel clutch plates, plus springs, all designed as a cohesive unit.
Mills continued, “Advanced technology, patient development and careful choice of materials have resulted in friction plates containing a new blend of carbon and aramid fibers. This provides added performance without the problems of fade or slip, and allows the rider to take full advantage of the bike's performance. This ultra high performance is achieved without the use of asbestos, and is in accordance with the latest regulations. Our clutch springs are precision wound using the finest chrome silicon wire. They are heat treated and designed for maximum ride life.”
He concluded, “Our street clutches provide a host of benefits including precision gear shifting, feel, resistance to slip and fade, and extended component life.”
DP Brakes' new RDP X-Race...
DP Brakes' new RDP X-Race competition brake pads use the latest carbon and titanium additive technology to provide superb power and control.
Also new from DP is its latest brake pad formulation, the RDP X-Race Titanium. Developed specifically as a high-friction front brake pad for racetrack use, the RDP X-Race is the result of over 25 years of knowledge infused into two years of brake dyno and track testing in order to find the right combination of two new elements into the previous RDP compound.

This brake dyno graph shows the RDP X-Race pad's increased friction over the standard RDP compound.
In order to help provide more control and feel during aggressive braking, the molecular structure of a carbon additive was changed, which enabled a smooth transfer film to be promoted between pad and rotor. To bind this new material, a titanium compound was added, which brought with it the added benefit of increasing the effective friction level overall. The finished product outperforms the old RDP pad and consistently achieves lower lap times by enabling riders to brake later and trail-brake with a very high degree of control. Plus the existing qualities of quick bed-in, no noise, brake dust, and rotor wear/durability are still maintained. The new RDP X-Race compound pad is identifiable by the yellow logo on the standard RDP packaging, and will be available for most popular bikes.
