Oxnard, Calif. – October 11, 2012 – AMA Pro Road Racing made its final stop of the season this past weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park for the Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans. Galfer USA racers made the most of the 12th and final round of racing as 3 class championships were secured to go along with 3 race wins on the weekend.

Galfer USA riders Chris Ulrich and Chris Fillmore capped off what has turned out to be a solid racing season in the premier SuperBike class. Making the jump from the Vance & Hines XR1200 Series to the AMA SuperBike class this year, Chris Fillmore capped off an impressive rookie season with 4th and 5th place finishes in the final round. This strong finish to the 2012 season bumped him from 12th to 11th in the final standings and provides a promising outlook on Fillmore’s future.
Fellow Galfer rider and SuperBike vet Chris Ulrich finished 13th and 6th at NOLA, matching his season-best finish achieved in Miami. Ulrich’s 6th place finish added to his consistent season, featuring six top-10 finishes this year for the 10th place position in the year-end standings.

AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike
Daytona SportBike Champion Martin Cardenas clinched the title at the previous round, but was disappointed nonetheless after crashing out of Saturday’s race. Galfer’s Dane Westby and JD Beach took the 2
nd and 3
rd place spots on the podium as Jake Zemke rounded out the top 5.
Sunday’s action proved to be a thrilling display as Cardenas fought for the victory in a fitting end to a rather dominant season. Westby and Beach finished the second race in 4th and 5th, respectively.
Galfer’s Martin Cardenas claimed the 2012 Daytona SportBike Championship with 8 race wins and only two finishes outside the top 5. Westby finished the season in 2nd place, and Galfer rider Jason DiSalvo finished 5th in the class.

Galfer USA’s James Rispoli highlighted a successful weekend in the SuperSport class as he wrapped up the SuperSport West championship in New Orleans. Saturday’s race saw youngster Hayden Gillim win his second race of the season as fellow Galfer rider Tomas Puerta joined him on the podium in 3rd. Rispoli finished 4th in the first race of the weekend, which was good enough to secure the title.
Sunday’s race once again featured Gillim at the front of the pack, this time with a 2nd place finish while Rispoli followed in 3rd. Puerta finished the second race in 4th while SuperSport East contendor Dustin Dominguez rounded out the top 5.
Rispoli followed last year’s SuperSport East title with a SuperSport West title in 2012 on the strength of 4 class wins and 8 total SuperSuport wins. Hayden Gillim finished behind Rispoli in 2nd in the standings. Galfer’s Dustin Dominguez finished up the season in 2nd in the SuperSport East class following 3 class wins and 4 wins overall. Tomas Puerta and Stefano Mesa finished 3rd and 4th in the East, and Corey Alexander finished 5th despite missing the final round following an injury sustained while training.

Separated by just 2 points in the standings coming into the final race, Galfer riders Michael Barnes and Tyler O’Hara were poised to battle it out in what had essentially turned into a winner-take-all race. Through a wild and crazy race it was Barnes that took the victory and the 2012 XR1200 Championship, while O’Hara’s 11th place finish landed him in 3rd in the final standings. Fellow Galfer USA rider Josh Chisum finished the race in 6th and wound up with the 8th place position at season’s end.
