Now that nearly every major roadracing series in the world have gone to spec tires, it has undoubtedly changed the racing landscape from the racer’s point of view. But what about the tire companies supplying the product? How have they dealt with the expected complaints from teams and racers? Or the logistical difficulties resulting from supplying the whole field instead of just sponsored teams and riders? We spoke to representatives from the three major tire companies involved in spec tire racing to find out what they have discovered with the move to spec tires in racing. It’s a revealing insight into an aspect of racing that has changed dramatically in the past few years.
