Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo...
Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo topped the timesheets in Sunday morning warmup for the Red Bull Indy GP.
Sunday morning warmup practice at Indy Motor Speedway in preparations for the Red Bull Indianapolis GP was held in warming conditions (weather reports predict a high of 92 degrees F), and it was Fiat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo who showed the quickest pace on race tires, in what will surely be a very competitive race. Although Lorenzo was able to bring his time down to almost three-tenths below next-quickest Dani Pedrosa on his final lap, there was quite a bit of shuffling going on at the top during the latter portion of the 20-minute session. Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Ben Spies, Casey Stoner, and Valentino Rossi all took a turn at the top spot as they sorted out their race setup.
Valentino Rossi continued to have one his worst pre-race weekends ever, as he hit the ground for the third time this morning. After taking the top spot with about eight minutes remaining and looking to drop his times further, Rossi lowsided in Turn 11, luckily without injury to himself and hopefully the engine as he quickly ran over to shut off the prone M1. Nonetheless, the nine-time world champion is still well in the mix, with the top six riders all on the same second.
