Along the same lines as the ZX-10R last year, Kawasaki has released a teaser video of the upcoming 2012 ZX-14R, the new replacement for the current ZX-14. The bore and stroke are stated as being 84 x 65mm, which works out 1440cc, up from the current ZX-14’s 1352cc displacement. Also shown briefly is the restyled front headlight setup. The “R” suffix is shown in a brief moment during the closing credits, along with the “10-10-2011” date which presumably is day the complete bike will be unveiled at the Kawasaki U.S. dealer show.
There have been rumors that Kawasaki was in the process of upgrading the ZX-14, which basically remained unchanged since its debut in 2006. The prevailing rumor was that 2012 was only going to see a cosmetic revamp in preparation for a true redesign in 2013, but it appears that Kawasaki is moving forward with plans to introduce that model next year. More news as we get it.
