Suzuki Motor of America chose the Indianapolis MotoGP race to unveil its latest 2014 model, a limited production liter-size GSX-R designated the GSX-R1000 SE. As part of the commemoration of the company’s 50th anniversary in the USA, only 100 units of the GSX-R1000 SE will be produced, with just 50 bikes going to American shores.
Built around the ever-popular GSX-R1000, the SE model sports numerous custom features that set it apart from all other production GSX-Rs. A polished and chrome-plated frame, along with machined and polished chrome rims coupled with clear-coated blue spokes head the list of modifications, with the blue tint forming the basis of a special paint motif for the SE. The ram-air intakes sport blue-painted trim, with blue-anodized componentry such as the outer fork tubes, the steering stem nut, the ring surrounding the tachometer, the gas cap, and the fork adjusters adding to the special look. Blue anodizing is also used on both the clutch cover on the right side and the generator cover on the left side of the engine.
Out back, a polished exhaust and muffler combination are topped off with a black-anodized end cap, and more blue anodizing is applied to rear shock spring and the drive chain. An individually numbered serial plate is affixed to the top triple clamp to identify which of the 100 units is owned.
Suzuki reps state that while they’re still working out exactly how the units will be distributed among dealers, it’s highly likely that the actual selection will be determined by a first-come, first-served customer deposit basis. No price nor availability date was available at post time.
