In 2008 Noriyuki Haga used Öhlins Active Suspension on his WSB Yamaha YZF-R1, with a shock absorber controlled by this ECU (the gold box) tucked inside the tail section. In this application, three-axis gyros help determine when and how to adjust damping; for example, damping can be added in a dip in the track to prevent bottoming.
