Arai Helmets announces its latest racer replica helmets for 2017, including the new Corsair X Maverick Viñales 2017 replica paint scheme used by the young MotoGP star at the November Valencia test, where he finished with the quickest time despite it being his first ride on the factory Yamaha YZR-M1. There's no doubt that Viñales will be contending for the championship in 2017, and many are expecting him to be champion sooner rather than later.
The Corsair X features Arai's Variable Axis System (VAS) that incorporates a moving pivot point for the faceshield mechanism that allows the faceshield mechanism to be mounted much lower than the previous version. By keeping the pivot below the Snell test area, the helmet surface in that area can be made rounder and smoother to allow the helmet to glance off solid objects more easily in a crash. Arai's PB-SNC2 shell (the second generation Peripheral Belt-Structural Net Composite outer shell design) utilizes a combination of proprietary "super fiber" and special synthetic fibers to create a lightweight shell that provides both superb tensile strength and flexibility characteristics.
Ventilation has been improved over the previous Corsair V model with the latest IC Duct5 and Diffuser Type 12. The center IC Duct5 takes in 11% more air than its predecessor, while the Diffuser Type 12 takes in 19% more air due to its 20mm longer shape that has been streamlined for even better stability at speed with less noise. Both the IC Duct5 and Diffuser Type 12 have three-position intake closures for improved sealing in rainy conditions, and are easily operated with gloves on. And the VAS shield latch captures and securely holds the faceshield closed to prevent unexpected opening along with a de-mist function, along with a larger latch to allow easy operation even with heavy gloves on the rider's hands.
And just in time for the 2017 Supercross season, Arai is also proud to announce the new Justin Bogle replica VX-PRO4. The Bogle replica will be offered in four colorways and will provide all the great features you've come to expect from the Arai VX-PRO4. The cLc R75 shape shell utilizes multiple proprietary components including Super Fiber to provide better strength while maintaining a smooth and round shape with less protrusions that are less likely to catch and dig in during a crash. The stainless mesh chin bar vent grill is now mounted on the outside of the exterior vent cap, allowing easy removal for cleaning or damage replacement. The vent cap itself is designed to break away from the chin bar in the event of an impact.
The Air-Through top-rear-duct center brace also functions as a goggle-strap locator, and the diffusers can be removed or replaced easily by removing a single screw on the rear duct center-brace. The peak is 14mm longer and 5mm wider than the previous model for improved ability to deflect roost and flying debris; to compensate for the increased lift from airflow at speed, the air outlets on the new peak have been enlarged as well.
And finally, the revised Emergency Release Cheek Pad system has the release tab repositioned for easier access by rescue staff. For more information on these and other new Arai helmets, go to araiamericas.com.
